MEET MELISSA

HELLO HELLO FRIENDS! IT’S SO NICE TO MEET YOU!

Welcome to Her Heart + Table! I’m Melissa – the recipe developer, photographer, writer, and taste tester behind this lifestyle blog.  But I can’t take all the credit because my husband does quite a bit of tasting as well!

I was born and raised in the great state of New York.  My husband is an Air Force pilot, so we move around every few years but are currently residing in the Pacific Northwest and soon to be moving to New Jersey!  I’m THAT dog mom who probably nurtures her pup a little too much.

At school I got my degree in Nutrition from Penn State.  I met my husband during my senior year of college and fell in love with him before we even said hello.  I fell in love with food at a young age.  There were always wonderful smells wafting through my house growing up.  The memories of my childhood all have those scents attached to them.  I am also the photographer behind the camera at Melissa Batzer Photography where I am able to provide marriages and families with a lasting legacy of photographs!

On a more personal level, I am always pushing my comfort zone by learning things that really matter, like living intentionally, appreciating people and following Jesus.

about the blog

I started this site to document my journey with infertility and share my story through the food I create.  I believe that what we eat directly affects our bodies in both positive and negative ways.  Just like how everyone is on a different journey of life I believe that everyone is on their own food journey as well.

The recipes you see here on Her Heart + Table are all developed by me (unless otherwise noted).  Each recipe is created with this intention of battling my infertility journey.  I was diagnosed with PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) almost four years ago and am prayerfully combatting it naturally with clean food and lots of exercise.  And after a lot of research that looks like eating grain-free, dairy-free and process free.  So basically eating food in its created form.

I try to eat a balanced diet but let’s be honest, I can’t stand restrictions.  You’ll find most of my recipes are healthy and easy (no cheese cloth required), but still oh so tasty.  That said, I do have a sweet tooth…. Like a really big one!
